Objectives of the Postgraduate Course
Demonstrate and discuss modern trends in heart valve surgery, especially the issue of biological valve prostheses including allografts, autografts and valve conserving and/or repairing operations.
Noninvasive & invasive preoperative diagnosis as well as the perioperative echocardiography will be discussed. Operative techniques will be shown in details through live surgery.
Special attention will be given to indication criteria and long term results.
Advances in basic science (biology and function of heart valves) in xenograft research and tissue engineering will be addressed as well.
„Hands On“ Workshop „Cardiovascular Tissue Banking“ would unable participants to be introduced to the legal aspects, tissue harvesting, processing and cryopreservation of allograft heart valves & vessels
